Max Schwaiger

Max Schwaiger is a PhD student at UCL-IIPP, researching public-private relations in the New Space Economy. His doctoral project is supervised by Prof. Mariana Mazzucato (UCL-IIPP) and Prof. Alan Smith (Department of Space and Climate Physics).

He holds a BA in European Studies from Maastricht University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) and a double-degree MSc. in Public Policy & Human Development (Specialized in the Governance of Innovation) from UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University.

Research Assistant

Max researches public-private interactions in space agencies with a special focus on the economic development of commercialized space. He is interested in the employment of Mission-oriented innovation policies, dynamic evaluative capabilities of public institutions, and economic rationales underlying interactions between the public and private sector. Max is further interested in the empirical evidence of chokepoint effects utilized by private organizations in the New Space economy.
